Hello all,

I apologize if this was brought up in the forums before but I just signed up, does anyone know any dental schools that would accept international students for their programs given that the students completed their Bachelors and DDS degrees in the US?

Same for externships, would programs accept international students to join their externship programs? Some schools I tried to do externships at required a US citizenship.

I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can provide me with any resources or list of programs that do accept international students!

It depends on what kind of international student you are. If you are a non-Canadian international, then you will be ruled out for the majority of programs. Use this link below to look up OMFS programs and for each program, you can scroll down and they indicate if they accept non-Canadian international students

It is possible, but only 4 international dental school graduates were able to do it last year.

As many have already mentioned it’s very competitive in general to get into omfs as a domestic applicant.

I know of one who successfully matched into omfs having done dental school in a foreign country.

He did dental school, and omfs in his own country. He was practicing the full scope of omfs, as well as performing cranialfacial and cosmetic procedures. He was also in academics.

He successfully got into omfs and graduated from his residency in the US.
A rock star who had his rock moves. I also knew him in person. He was the most gregarious and charismatic person you could meet. Anyone who knew him wanted to be his friend because he was just insanely like-able.

On top of that I’m fairly certain he also had a green card or us citizenship at the time he applied to omfs in the US.

It’s gonna be tough to get in as an international student.

Also with the above posting of the stats, it doesn’t reveal which one of those applicants have green cards or us citizenships… it just says those who went to d school overseas. If they have green cards or us citizenships they are considered domestic applicants.

I too am an international student interested in the field. I went through all 113 programs or so in the US and there was about 25 programs that allowed non Canadian international students be considered for admissions!
