OMFS with low GPA

A 3rd year at my dental school has a 2.3 gpa but is aiming for omfs. 93 part 1. Probably at the bottom of his class. Has anyone gotten into omfs with similar stats? Share anything helpful?

Haven't ever heard of that happening... but my question is how the heck can you get a 93 on boards but only have a 2.3 GPA... someone should have worked a little harder. They are going to have to have connections in my opinion.
