So psyched!!!!!! :soexcited: I am actually typing this from a Davidson computer (prospective visiting)

Just went to four classes:
Art History (not likely!)
Ecology (Of course, unless I die!)
Politics of Human Rights (Like the class, probably will hate the tests)
Physics of the Environment (strangely, this turned out to be a non-science major class . . . but I liked it)

So, I've been told it doesn't matter which I go to . . . like that helps my decision any -_- They are acadmically comparable, and financially comparable.
The only thing is, are people at Vanderbilt going to try to pressure me into becomeing a "people" doctor! >;P
And, they are way different size-wise. Vanderbilt is in Nashville and Davidson . . . well, the town is smaller than the actual college. ^^

You can take this with a grain of salt, but I have heard that the classes at Davidson are extraordinarily difficult/it is hard to get a good GPA. The unproctored exams, free laundry service (members of the staff do your laundry for you), and the honor code are all nice, but you might pay for those benefits with a hit to your GPA. This based on testimonies from current Davidson students. While you are there, I would ask a lot of the pre-med students how difficult it is to get a high GPA. I suspect that they will confirm what I have said. I cannot comment on Vandy's situation.

nice job on Vanderbilt, i dont know much about davidson. congrats! Think about where you prefer, a university or a college. That should help you out interms of actually continuing with a masters/doctorate in the long run.

Well, I plan to apply to vet school at Georgia, and the advisor at Davidson told me that they consider the SCHOOL you go to, not only grades (like Davidson did with my high school-private, college prep)

I am especially happy about the residence conditions & honor code at Davidson after reading some horror stories about roomates (see thread "Hating your roomate")

Free laundry just about PWNS ALL! Do ANY other colleges DO that?? .-.-
Of course, if I get into the Eco-house I will be making my own food, so there's a tradeoff. ^_^

EyEnStein 07, what are you saying should help me?

In terms of better school, i cant answer that really because i dont know much about davidson. What i do know is Vanderbilt is no joke, and that most people who know about some of the best schools know what Vandy is about. Im sure a lot of people are the same with davidson, i just find it awkward (personally has nothing to do with you or the school) that i never heard of it especially since i use to advise many kids in my highschool senior year (last yr) on what schools to apply to.

Also its probably better since it seems both schools are of similar excellence, that you consider financial stuff. I know you said its not a problem, but isnt it better to save a couple of grand if you can?

Also i wouldnt worry about the part with Vet school. I really dont think it plays into account what UnderGrad you went to. This is because not everyone has the capability to go to schools like that even if they do get accepted.

Lastly, you might want to consider the type of programs Davidson offers as Oppose to Vandy. For example most "colleges" in the US offer mostly bachelors and masters degrees for example.

Lets say along the road you want to get a PhD or another type of degree incase you dont watn to do vet or postpone. Because davidson is a small liberal arts school you might not get that opportunity later and have to go through the whole applying/admissions process. However if you attend a "university" such as vanderbilt, you might have the opportunity to go onto a masters , phD, etc... program because you already attend, and you will get that degree of liniency.

Vandy i would say is harder to get into but its a larger school. It also depends where you are comfortable.

Ah, I love Vandy!! If only I had money and a 31 on my ACT...

Oh also, as "actual advice":

Don't worry about being pressured into one type of medicine or another. Prevet classes = premed classes, so you won't be pressured into, say, human physiology instead of comparative physiology, cause all you'll be taking with the premeds are bio, chem, physics, and orgo. Also, in those same classes you'll have plenty of prevets, predents, pre-everything in science. And honestly, if anything schools are hoping to encourage people away from being pre-med cause it's such a tough nut to crack and they want to have as many people succeed in the application process as possible. In fact, they might try to pressure you into the less competitive stuff (podiatry, optometry, nursing), if they pressure you into anything at all.
