I want to get an OMT table to practice and I came across this table which seems to have good features and the padding doesnt seem too thick either (great for HVLA?) :

Does anyone have any experience with this table?
Thanks

As you suggested, the softness of the padding is an important consideration if you plan to do a lot of HVLA. I'm not sure you can know for sure until you actually see the table. The other factor, if you plan to do HVLA on bigger people, is the stability of the table. Sometimes these massage-style tables can be a little rickety if you've got a 280 lb dude up in side-posture. But for the money, it seems like a worthwhile purchase.

I have this table. It is firm padding, and designed for performing HVLA on it. A little costly though.

It seemed like the standard portable OMT tables had a 1 1/2 inch padding and prices ran from $280+. This one claims to hold up to 3000lbs (which im skeptical about ) :

Some OMT tables advertised have around 3 inches which made me skeptical about it :

Do u guys think that I could still get away with the cheaper priced ones? I dont think I will even attempt HVLA on a 250lb+ guy since im not big at all lol

You don't have to be "big" to do HVLA on a larger individual. I have known women who are barely 100 pounds soaking wet with stones in their pockets who easily do HVLA on people 300+ lbs.

It's not about how built you are, how strong you are, or your strength. It's all about technique.

Any cheap massage table with less than 2" of padding should be fine for the HVLA techniques - making it fine for OMM in general. My roommate ordered a $ 100 massage table off amazon and I find absolutely no difference between it and the $300 specially made 'OMM tables' sold online and at DO colleges.

The best advice I can give is to forget the table. Learn how to make all adaptations to do it on a floor. You can pretty much do anything, lumbar rolls included, on the floor if you get creative. I find this works better because you don't carry an OMM table with you everywhere, and even when you have access to one it gets rather annoying pulling it out of the closet, setting it up, doing a couple treatments, then putting it all back.

On a side note I have a massage table and though the padding sucks it will work if you make adaptations, which is precisely my argument for just using the floor if they both require adaptations.

An OMT table can last you 30+ years, so don't worry about spending more on one for good quality.

3,000 pounds is a claim about static weight; working weight is lower. I like Oakworks' quality a lot. Oakworks tables are cheaper through osteopathictables.com. I got the Boss, and my only regret is that 31 inches is a bit too wide. My grandfather's table from 1980 is in great shape, but it's only 24 inches wide and was making me nervous when people got on or off it.

+1 for floor OMM!!!

Did some very successful t-spine and c-spine HVLA on the floor the other day.

Hello fellas, any feedback for the Earthlite Harmony Portable Table . When comparing Sierra Comfort with Earthlite Harmony which one does better for performing HVLA?
