I just received an e-mail saying I was put on hold for receiving a secondary from MSU. Has anyone else heard of this? Could it be because I am out of state? Overall I'm a strong applicant, 35N, 3.9. Any other explanations?😡

hey zekeMD, I got the same email!!!

Kind of funny how they say that we will get RE-REVIEWED within 10-12 WEEKS!!!! sh-t I wouldn't be surprised if in 10-12 weeks the class is full, oh well I guess we just have to be patient.

As far as why the hold? I really don't know. My numbers are not as strong as yours, (specialy the MCAT) and I am an out of state applicant, so I don't know if that may be the case....

Does anybody else have any info on MSU hold for secondary?

wow, it might have to do with being out of state. I'm in state and got one.
They are pretty fast about stuff, so hope it works out

I'm out of state with sucky stats (check profile) and I actually got in. Crapshoot. thats what it is.

i think jlee too, he's out of state.

Man, that sucks. I think they should either give you a secondary or not...holds for interviews are a little more reasonable, but for a secondary? I feel for you. 🙁

Its probably cause you applied early, took earlier MCAT.

I totally agree with that. I'd almost rather get a rejection so I can check them off my list than go through this crap. But I suppose it is my fault for applying late.

hey, I got put on hold for my state school for a secondary too. and I have a 3.8, 32o.

Maybe they just thought you were too good for them? it happens.
for my case, the school was really looking for people who lived in rural parts of illinois, and wanted to stay in rural parts, i think. so the rumours have it...

Salukis?

WHOA....I think that's the highest I've seen...

Yeah, SIU likes to do that. At least you got on hold. I didnt even get that far.

I'm on hold for a secondary and I'm in state!!!! (31Q, 3.75).I'd think that I could at least get a secondary!!!

hey....don't sweat it if you didn't get the MSU secondary. the same thing happened to me when i applied two years ago. I was in-state, applied early, had good numbers (considerably above their averages) and i was put on hold for a secondary. I finally got one in like, March, but was ultimately rejected without an interview.

MSU tends to be fairly primary-care-oriented, so if that's not your thing and you made it clear in your application, that could be why you got put on hold.

anyway, if your numbers are really that high, and you don't screw up in your interviews, you should have no problem getting in somewhere else. So unless MSU is your first choice (in which case you should probably write them a letter telling them you're very interested in their school), then don't sweat it, and wait for some other acceptances to come in. 🙂

I am instate and have much lower numbers than the ones stated previously on this thread and just received an interview invite today.

crap shoot.

Hey guys,

How long after sending in the fee for MSU to review your application did you hear your fate regarding whether or not they would grant you a supplemental?

Cheers!
