The situation with San Juan Baustista has left many in shock. Now that we have seen what can happen, I have a few questions.

1) Apparently this school had been on probation of some sort. Where can Med school applicants look to see if a school is on probation?

2) It appears that schools are granted accreditation on a five year trial basis and then reviewed. What guarantee do we have that a new med school will be around when we want to graduate? There aren't to many new med schools that come to thought. I can only think of TT El Paso. Please note, I am not saying that this school is of low quality or at risk.

1&2) http://www.lcme.org/directry.htm and http://www.lcme.org/newschoolprocess.htm

There's no guarantee that the school will be around when you graduate. You just have to trust the process, which doesn't work too well when the main teaching hospital goes bankrupt (like San Juan Bautista)

The two med schools currently on probation are TCMC (The Commonwealth Medical College) and Ponce (also in Puerto Rico)

I thought this thread was gonna be about Great White... Anyone who gets this reference is awesome.
