Oncology training

I am a 1st year med student and think I'm interested in Medical Oncology.
Does anyone know how you go about training for that specialty? I think it is a branch of internal medicine. How many years of residency/fellowship does it require?

Yea 3 year IM then 3 year heme/onc. Pretty gruelling fellowship. It's 3 years and heavy on research. So you are looking 6 years total, if you want something more specific, like BMT, maybe do another year of fellowship. Good luck.
