Yes, it is definitely possible. Anyway, your GPA at 3.7 is pretty good. One C is not a deal breaker. Bring home a 32+ MCAT and you're all set.

Not a problem. Your GPA is great otherwise. I would say a 31 or better would get you in, maybe even a 30 if you're lucky.

An upward trend would help too. For example, if that C was in Orgo I, and you got an A in Orgo II, you somewhat have redeemed yourself, and it looks good to admissions committees.

My only C was in orgo II (after I had already dropped it once). I had a 31 MCAT. At my first interview, the very first question my interviewer asked..."so why did you get a c in organic?" We laughed about it, and I got in there. You're fine.

I had some blemishes on my transcript. None of those things ever came up in any of my interviews. Class of 2012.

People need to freak out less.

I have a 3.70 GPA. My transcript has one C on it. Is it possible to get into med school with one C, given a pretty good MCAT and other positive factors?

Anyone here gotten into med school with one C on their transcript?

Only one 'C'? What, did you lock yourself in the library and study every day all throughout undergrad?

Shame on you.

I had 5 C's and a 3.5 GPA. I was really hoping my 33 MCAT would lessen the blow, but in my 6 interviews, I was never asked about those C's or my GPA. Take it easy and stay confident.

I had a C and a bad first semester in general, and I'm doing just fine this cycle. My grades only came up at the MCW interview. Just make sure that everything else is in line.

I have a C+ on my transcript

Good luck, and stop freaking out. You have a good GPA, and when you get a good MCAT you will be a solid applicant. :luck:

I had 3 Cs, a subpar GPA, a 30 MCAT. None of those things ever came up in any of my interviews. Class of 2012.

Seriously, how did you pull that off??? I have 2 C's and a 30 MCAT, great EC's Experience, Volunteer, LORs and I only had 1 interview and no acceptances!!

I got in with a C in a one credit-hour general-ed class.

It came up on interviews as "well you're lucky that C was in (...) instead of g. chem!" etc.

Just be prepared to explain why you got it (if there were any legitimate extenuating circumstances that don't go the route of "I couldn't handle the material"). If the grade was early on in your undergrad career, work on having an upward trend. If the course was a prereq (ex. Orgo I, Bio I etc) make sure that you do well on the upper level courses in the subject.

If that's the only real blemish on your app, you probably don't need a stellar mcat either-- that's not to say don't aim high, but anywhere around the "bullseye" for the average med school applicant (ie ~30) should be fine. Of course, this all assumes that you can handle yourself in an interview and can show that there's more to you than what your gpa, mcat and a few grades say.

Personally, I had 2 c's on my transcipt, in prerequisites. And I got in. Granted, those grades were early on in college for me and I had the MCAT score to offset it. It's tough because you are competing against people with all A's, but you can do it.

You can't get into medical school with a C on a college transcript. President Bush signed into law last week that no medical school admitten can have a C on a college transcript. You might as well chance career paths now.
