Hi all

it says on a lot of websites that I need to have a C grade or higher in all pre-reqs.

thats fine, but for physics I i got a C- and in physics II i got a B to make my full year of physics requirement.

If this too low and will i need to redo the initial physics? iam applying this cycle

yes, I think you need a C or higher, C- is too low. For most if not all schools you cannot get in with a C- in a prereq

do I have to redo the mark before i apply? or as long as i have it before entering?

oh really? as long as its before matriculation

would this apply to all schools on aadsas?

yes, should apply to all schools on aadsas. Just make sure you get a C or better before matriculation.

Where exactlydo i do this on the application?
under course work?

and if so do i indicate the mark i previously recieved and add anotehr entry as planned?

hey folks if i could get any more advice that would be great 🙂

I have a C- in Physics too and I got accepted to four dental schools.

For most of the schools, you have to retake it before matriculation. And some dental schools might overlook it, i.e. two of the dental schools that I got into told me I'm fine and don't need to retake the class.

on the application there is a section called planned/in progress. You can put it on your application, and if you are accepted and told you do not need it then you can drop it. It would probably be a bad idea to assume that schools will overlook a C-

I don't know about your school, but some schools if you get a C- that is considered passing for the undergraduate school. However, this is not acceptable for most dental schools.

Then you took physics II and passed that. Since you passed physics II, you can't retake physics I.

Again this is only some undergraduate schools. Check with yours.

Do you see the problem with this?

Yes a C- is considered passing and yes Ive checked and i definetly can retake it. I think during course selection ill add it as a second semester option and if i get any interviews ill see if i sill need to take it and if not drop it.

ugh one mark seems to be casing so much trouble.

This is why I'm glad my undergrad didn't have + and - grades.... yay!

yeah ill put it under planned coursework, and sign up for the course for second semester, that way when december comes around i can find out whether ill still need to take it depending on if the school needs it

does that work?

:eyebrow: why not just retake it? MOST dental schools consider anything below a C as non-passing and some even state it in their requirements. so it's better to be safe than sorry. i wouldn't be surprised if some schools straight up reject you for having a C- in a prereq class and not tell you why ur rejected. so retake physics I in the fall, get it over and done with and then you'll be home free in the spring semester. i mean honestly would u really want to be stuck in school during the spring semester on a a nice sunny day taking physics I? 😎
