one week in and getting 2 correct per passage?

Hi guys, I am one week in on my mcat studying. Im taking the exam August 22nd and im currently using the Mcatjelly study plan. Im pretty frustrated right now because every time I've done a TBR passage or Kaplan passage I get about 2 correct per section and there are sections where I dont get any answers correct...

Again, I am very very frustrated especially since its in topics that I earned an A in when I took the class, Biochem, Orgo, Psych etc...Is this normal and will I have enough time to improve significantly for an August mcat? Im starting to think theres something wrong with my brain or the way I think about the questions? What am I doing wrong??

You have pleeeeennntttyyy of time to improve. TBR passages are notoriously among the toughest out there. I would be concerned about only getting two questions correct per passage a month from now, but as it stands--the purpose of the TBR practice passages in my study plan is to learn the material. Focus on accruing them knowledge points vs. number correct for now. 🙂

Ok thank you that makes me feel a little better! I'll make sure to tackle the TBR passages with the mindset of continuing to learn the material as opposed to using them to gauge where I'll be scoring on the MCAT!

Also, Im struggling to fit in two chapters of content review a day. Its taking me a while to get through a single chapter in the Kaplan books and then doing all the practice passages. Did you run into this issue as well?

Absolutely. I stopped updating the Kaplan version when I stopped using their books in early February, but I've updated the EK schedule to only one chapter a day. I quickly learned that it's almost impossible to do two chapters a day AND what's usually 15+ passages per chapter.

(I may or may not fix up the Kaplan schedule once I'm done with MCAT/apps.)
