When a school only lists one year of biology without any mention of specifics, can this year of biology be ANY bio class, such as anatomy, physio, microbio, and an intro bio class?

Yeah, from what I read it's any 1 year of biology. But it's highly recommended you do 1-year general bio sequence for the MCAT background, and take additional classes such as A&P, Micro, Immuno, etc. to show you can handle higher-level classes as well.

Yes.

If you think about it, general bio courses (ie intro to biology, molecular biology, etc) typically serve as prereqs to other elective bio courses. Especially when it comes to physiology, micro, or a genetics course. I imagine that’s why the program is vague with just 1 year of bio.

Unless your majoring in an outlier major such as accounting or business, you’d have more than enough bio electives by the time you hit 60+ credit hours (let alone final year of schooling).

What did you end up finding out about this and what did you do? Is it fair to say if a school offers intro to bio take that and then take whatever secondary bio you find interesting/has a good professor? Is there subject matter for either one that you need to be cognizant of related to the MCAT or to higher Bio classes like Biochem? Would Biochemistry count as Bio II because it seems like a lot of schools separate Biochem from the 1 Year of Introductory Biology?
