I am in need of taking the second general biology course and located a respected university that offers it online. What are the thoughts of taking a course as a prerequiste online? I am told it does not reflect so on the transcript but may be obvious that the school is one I only took a single course at!

To my knowledge it does not matter, as long as it will not show as an online class on your transcript

Actually, the OP better check this - I thought I read somewhere that the science pre-reqs should NOT be taken as a correspondence course - my guess is that "online" is the internet version of "correspondence." Plus how would you get the lab part of the credit?

No, the course defintely does not appear as online and you would need to take the lab seperately in a direct format.

I was wondering about this too? Anyone ever heard of take a pre-req like physics online....if so what schools offer it?

Online course are generally frowned upon especially because until recently they have only been offered by Averrett or Strayer or some other sketchy university. Now more reputable universities are opening up to 'distance learning' but I still think they are frowned upon. I would find a specific distance learning program and then figure out which medical schools you are applying to. Contact each medical school and ask them.

Not worth spending a bunch of money for a class that you can't use.

Or worse, having an acceptance revoked due to not fulfilling the requirements before matriculation. It has happened, just run a search on online classes. Students think that just because it's not listed as "online" on your transcripts that medical schools will not find out...you are wrong.
