I know this may be a stupid question, but I just was wondering if online classes show up on your transcript as online classes or do they just show up as regular courses taken at the university? If they do show up as online classes, is it frowned upon to take online classes (kind of like JUCO classes) rather than the regular courses during the year?

Any response would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

wondering the same thing, does it actually say they are online on the transcript? My school offers them but I'm iffy on taking 'em if they are described as "online"..

you may take humanities and history and the like as an online class but not ever a science class.

you need the labs 🙂

At my school they show up as normal classes- I took Composition 2, World Lit, and Sociology online...

My advice: Ask your schools registar!

as far as the science classes online the only one we have online is pathophysiology...but the histology class is working on a proposal to be taught online with an online lab.

Call your school's registrar and ask them. And then call the next day talk to someone else and ask them the same question. I asked my school and was told they showed up the same, but not the case. Fortunately it wasn't a science class, so its not an issue, but just make sure. Also I know at least the UVA medical school admissions sight says they don't don't except distance education classes for prereqs. Now whether online necessarily mean distance education is another argument, but I at least wouldn't want to chance it.

If the online classes are from a university that you physically attend, it doesn't matter. Unless the classes are from an online college like Phoenix University, or any of the online schools.
