What is your feeling behind online schooling for undergrad? Do you think that it makes a difference for classes like Eng 101... I understand any Bio classes should never be taken online but what do you guys think of the others?

Personally, I think online classes are ridiculous. It leaves too much freedom for students to cheat. Who knows if the student is really the student at all! Back in undergrad when I was working as a tutor, I was paid to sit with a student while he took his online tests for biology. I would say that I was the one taking the test rather than him. Of course I was broke and couldn't afford to complain about this, but you can see what I am saying. I'm sure medical schools know it is easier to get the grades in online classes. On the other hand, the popularity of online classes has grown tremendously in the past few years with completely online universities popping up everywhere. Some even say this is the next new thing in education! Again, in my opinion, I don't think it will catch on until we upgrade our video conferencing abilities. But who knows, 10 years from now, medical students may be learning from their apartments.

I have to completely disagree with Premed. I've taken several of my "core" studies online and quite honestly they've been more time-consuming than on-campus classes. Typically exams have to be proctored or the class is set up as assignments and discussions vs. exams in which you have to go really in-depth but can use your resources. I suppose you could make a case for whether it's really the student or someone else doing the work, but for proctored exams an ID is required, and for any other assignment the same could apply to an on-campus class. My only caveat would be to take online classes through a regular university vs. Phoenix U, or some of these other online universities. Every online course I've taken I've really enjoyed, and while it was more time-consuming I really learned a lot from each course. I can't say the same about all of my on-campus courses.

Good luck!

There is a big big difference between a major university sponsored online course and a diploma mill online course.

If you take a State U online course, It should be legit. Just dont do your prerequisites at DegreesRUS.com or something like that.. or even devry.
