Online (Skype) Interviews?

Just wondering who has done interviews over Skype or any other equivalent software. I have the option to travel to Europe this fall for an exchange so I obviously won't be able to do an interview in person. I amwondering if I should go or not. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I highly highly doubt any school would do this. It will just show them your lack of commitment when compared to other students. A lot of students could have spent their air fare and hotel bookings for a trip to Europe too, but they decided dental school was more important.

If you are serious about going to dental school, skip the trip to Europe.

are you serious?
I highly doubt the admission officer will set up a Skype account just to chat with you. They'll just interview the next applicant in line.
I'm sure there are many other applicants who would gladly fly out to the interview.

the fact that you're even considering a vacation over your interview is astounding.

Prob not unless you were overseas due to military obligations.

you could tell schools when you will be back and do spring interviews. Essentially 'hold' your app for the fall

ya.....there's no way that could happen. Do you HAVE to go to Europe? I mean a lot of schools don't start interviewing till after Sept so. . . if you can make it make on-line, then youre' in good shoes.

There is the possibility of you flying back for interviews. I know a guy who's been volunteering in Peru for the year, and he got 3 pre-dec interviews and flew back to the states on 2 separate occasions. But I would highly highly recommend putting off your trip until at least the spring, even if you have the dough to fly back. It's tough enough to stay on top of all the paperwork you have to do and calls you have to make while you're at home, let alone while you're in foreign country.
