Online University..

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Probably unfavorably. Do you have experience in the lab and what about extracurriculars? Also, how are your test scores. How are you supposed to get letters of recommendation? Finally, and crucial... is the school accredited?

I am currently in CC and working full time and was thinking about doing online BS so that it will be completed faster then taking couple classes in University (which would take long time to finish).

I have some volunteer experience (3 Years) couple years ago, but nothing in medical field. I am just getting ready to start taking all the pre-med requirements in the CC. I am like a few years out taking the MCAT also.

I can get letter of recommendation from the CC teachers, does that count?

I wanted to get opinion on how the Online University would look on the record to the medical school.

if ur at a CC...how much longer would it take to take a few courses at BA/BS granting school? maybe it may take a few months more...but i highly doubt that med schools will like it...where would u take orgo lab? bio labs? ur UPPER level science labs?

I have to tell you that I think that is a bad route to go if you want a high chance of acceptance. This isn't just because I think adcoms will be very reluctant to admit from an online degree, and it isn't just because I think most online degrees are not accredited and therefore useless. It's also because what you learn and the tests you take may not prepare you for the MCAT.

I think online degress are generally viewed with some skepticism. Unless you rock the MCAT, I'd expect your chances are rather low. You should probably see what you can transfer from the CC and the online school and finish off the requirements for a degree at a traditional university.

Well, I see your passion for being a doctor, thats the first step achieved right there. Why not transfer to a traditional university as someone already posted and take loans? Don't be hesitant to take loans, once you become a doctor you will be able to pay them off. Just don't overwork yourself. In conclusion, discontinue the online thing then complete sufficient units at CC inorder to be able to transfer to a university, take required classes for your major and you'll be totally ready to roll. I do work part time and I think many students do, yet, I take loans.
good luck :luck:

Also, let me add that Med schools like to see that you have taken your organic chem courses at the university and not the CC. So, if possible do that. You will have to go to the university anyway because upper division classes aren't usually offered at community colleges.

there is a 0.0000000001% chance the original post is serious. and that small chance accounts for the possibility that he or she is very sadly mentally ******ed.
