If you any of you are accepted, and feel like you highly don't want to go to dental school, and think that it you will regret being a dentist... Then please find an acceptable alternative, because someone, maybe from the waiting list, really wants to be in your spot to fulfill their dream. Again I am not motivate you to quit, I'm just sharing what I think you should do if you feel bad or uncomfortable

This is true but that needs to be followed up with the determination and drive to get through classes. I know people who really want to be dentists but they choose a social life instead of studying and getting good grades. It just makes me wonder how passionate they really are. I do realize that there are learning disabilities and such but those people are the exception. IMO

But, sometimes its not about passion. There are tons of people that are passionate about surgery but you wouldn't want them doing surgery on you because they are simply not as good as other, more qualified, applicants.

Dental school admissions offices are good at making sure they pick students that are most qualified. If someone was truly passionate about dentistry then they know what it takes to get in (high DAT, grades, research, ECs, LORs, etc).

This application process was a big wake-up call to a lot of applicants (including me). It is a time in our relatively successful lives to realize that we simply are not "the best."

True I guess because those are basically the only factors that they can judge you upon. But sometimes it's not really fair...

Yeah, but, dental schools are not required to be fair. They are required to pick the class that increases their overall stats and a class that will work well together.

When you have to choose the smartest and most social/mature individuals from a pool of applicants, the process will naturally lack "fairness."

Also guys I had a question. So I sent my application to the schools that picked (from ADEA AADSAS). But I have not payed the fee for all them yet, should I do that ASAP or what?

You look like u need a hug. You need to relax and get off SDN. Your not early but your not late, you are like most of the applicants.

Well, if you're gonna play the "fair" card, then I would make sure that you have everything that is in your control taken care of. For example, paying the schools their required fees, because without this, they will not look at your app.

16jpatel, I think you really need to lighten up man. All the posts I've seen by you so far have been dark, gloomy, and hopeless. I know this process can be daunting but it seems like there's more here than meets the eye. People want a confident, happy dentist. You've gotta be able to demonstrate that to your interviewers, but more importantly to your patients in the future. Cheer up!
