Only taking 13 credits...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
As long as you pull a good GPA, I imagine it shouldn't matter. Keep in mind that one or two B's will hit so much harder if you're only taking 13 credits. If you've been staying on top of classes and are staying on track to graduate, it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal. If you took less than a full course load EVERY semester, then that would be a concern, but it doesn't sound like you're doing that. ADCOMs take course load into consideration, but if you've maintained a 3.7 with a full schedule so far, then I wouldn't worry 🙂

I really hope you're fine, for my sake... My course load average per semester is around 14 credits. and last year i took a total of 21 credits total bc i went through some issues. Don't over think this admissions process. Get good gpa. Get good dat. Have good EC's. And you'll matriculate somewhere.

I took the DAT with 13 credits this past semester. Pretty much all upper level biology/physics so it still wasn't extremely "light" but anyway...

I was also taking a DAT prep class (very time consuming with class time and work, if you put in the work you should at least). I didn't go out very much and spent pretty much all my free time studying for one or the other. The month leading up to my DAT (taken over spring break) I was probably up till 3-4 am every night to keep up with the schedule I set for myself.

Also, I was working ~8 hours in a lab and volunteering every week. I was trying to really make the last semester for my application count.

I ended up with a nearly perfect GPA and an above average DAT score. I think taking any more than 13 credits would have been too much for me, given the rigor of the courses I was taking. It is putting a LOT of pressure on yourself in terms of performing well and raising/maintaining a GPA. I literally cried tears of joy after my last final exam (shortly after the DAT)

Anyway, focus on the 13 credits and DAT! Put everything you have into that and don't over do it for yourself, the pressure can be overwhelming.

Thanks everyone! I will actually be taking 16 credits plus research and volunteering ~
