UCSF Department of Laboratory Medicine

The Mt. Zion Clinical Laboratory and the UCSF Department of Laboratory Medicine are seeking a Clinical Pathologist to serve as the Medical Director for the Mt. Zion Clinical Laboratory. Additionally, this position will involve medical directorship of the UCSF Point of Care testing programs at all three UCSF Hospitals (Mt. Zion, Moffitt-Long and Mission Bay). The Mt. Zion Clinical Laboratory provides routine clinical chemistry, hematology and transfusion medicine services to Mt. Zion patients and is home to the bio-isolation laboratory that services the UCSF Highly Infectious Containment Unit (HICU). The point of care testing program involves interactions with multiple departments and units throughout the three UCSF hospitals.

Teaching of UCSF Pathology/Laboratory Medicine residents (in chemistry/hematology) is also a major aspect of this position. The opportunity to develop translational or collaborative research projects in the general areas of Clinical Pathology will be supported by the Department.

The successful candidate must be an MD or MD-PhD who is board eligible/certified in Clinical Pathology. The candidate must also possess or be eligible for California Medical licensure. Subspecialty training or experience in Clinical Chemistry or Hematology is an advantage. Experience in Laboratory Management and training in Anatomic Pathology are also helpful. Salary and title will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, contact information for three letters of scientific reference, statement of research goals and interests, and statement of teaching online to: http://apptrkr.com/598209

UCSF seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. UCSF is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
