Immediate opening for a candidate looking for a 1–2-year Neurocritical Care fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
The Neurology/Neurosurgery Intensive Care unit (NNICU) is a world-class, state-of-the-art 44-bed facility located in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, ranked one of the best hospitals in the nation. The hospital has over 1,300 beds and is one of the main referral centers for the Midwest. Over 2,000 patients are admitted to the NNICU each year, including patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, intracerebral hemorrhage, status epilepticus, and neuromuscular emergencies. The NNICU is equipped with continuous EEG monitoring, telemetry, two advanced portable CT scanner, non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, beside ultrasonography, and fiber-optic bronchoscopy. Care is enhanced through close collaborative relationships with Neurology, Neurosurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology.
The NNICU is staffed by 8 full-time faculty and has 9 total fellowship positions. Fellow’s work with a team of 2 clinical pharmacists, 17 critical care nurse practitioners, and residents from Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Emergency medicine. Fellows will rotate through the Neurological ICU, Surgical ICU, Medical ICU in addition to choosing from electives such as Interventional Pulmonology, Ultrasound, Neuroanesthesia, Airway, Neurosurgery, and Neurointerventional radiology. Graduating fellows will have proficiency in intubation, ventilator management, bronchoscopy, central lines, arterial lines, POC ultrasound, and leading an ICU team.
REQUIREMENTS/ DETAILS:
-Must be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, or Neurosurgery
-Eligible for an unrestricted Missouri Medical License
