I was wondering if anybody knew of any open OMFS spots. Every resident in our program is looking to transfer.

its a six year program that closed yesterday. some residents have been interviewing but so far no definite spots.

Post if your program has an opening.

I would prefer to be discreet. As there is likely some legal ramifications to everything going on. Please if you know of open spots just let us know.

If your GME funding is secured, you may have your pick of programs. Any program would love to have an extra resident, but the real barrier is funding. Find out if your funding is still secured.

A similar situation is going on with an anesthesia program in the east. The residents are being snatched up all over the country because they are all still funded, and every program would love to have another resident for free.

We have funding but have to go into an accredited spot, I appreciate the advice.

Good luck guys.. i’ve heard of whats going on.. you will all be fine..

I know this is the least of anyone's worries, but I'm curious what happens to the application fee for those who already applied to the program this cycle..

i think this is a valid point to think of AFTER all applications submitted.. not now

This has happened in the past. You can generally apply to another program with the fee waived. If you call, they would probably refund.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case as per PASS, since the program continues to be listed as participating in the 2020 match. This was the reply I received from PASS:

Hi,

Thank you for contacting ADEA PASS.

You will need to contact them in regards to this as from our end they have access to the application. For that reason we cannot provide any refund.

Just a heads up for those who've already applied or are applying. I totally feel for the residents though.
