Has anyone tried the openanesthesia selfstudyplus qbank/app? Thoughts on it? Can't really find any reviews or opinions on it, would love to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance!

Where are you in training? I can safely say my entire anesthesia career has been due to TrueLearn, the one true qbank.

CA-1! Looking for something quick and easy to hit in the OR during very stable cases. I definitely plan to do TrueLearn, but it is a little too involved (2nd/3rd level questions, requiring notetaking on questions, requiring more concentration etc.) to study during cases (at least for me). Use the Basic Exam version of TrueLearn. Those are appropriate level to start out.

Our program bought us access to openanesthesia questions and I do them in the OR on slow cases. I think they're good questions. haven't touched truelearn yet but I plan to over the next year.

I had OA+ for a short while. I felt the questions & explanations were too short. They swear by their algorithm (repeating missed questions and whatnot). A couple classmates used it and liked it well enough. Didn't know anyone who loved it. I personally loved TrueLearn the most. Others I tried include M5 (too snarky for me) and Hall. Hall is static and not updated frequently like the others. That said, the app is very easy to use and I used this the first half CA-1 year almost exclusively, and I liked it a lot. I went through all 1000 questions again before the Basic, and it didn't seem as high yield. I always recommended to the junior residents to start with Hall, then move on to TrueLearn.

We did get OA+ through our program, I didn't use it much and focused my question bank use around true learn as a senior resident. I have to say the didactic content on OA website is great e.g. 'Key's to the cart' and 'Ask the expert'

I used it a few years ago as I needed something other than TrueLearn. Wasn’t great back then (a lot of esoteric questions that weren’t very high yield), but maybe it’s gotten better by now.

I would encourage those who used True Learn all through residency to use at least 1 or 2 other study materials at the end due to pattern recognition.

I am no stud at ITE (but usually not a major slouch either). I used truelearn basic and got top 10%. It’s pretty useless in practice but just another nice filler on resume.

OA is a bottom-tier question bank. I only use it because my program pays for it, but it's pretty awful. Question explanations rarely go through the answer choices in systematic way, and it is filled with errors. There are a lot of questions which is a plus, but as a result, it often veers into low yield territory. If you're pressed for time or early in your training, stick with TrueLearn.

I did ITE and advanced. ITE was better. I’m sure there’s some bias in my impression, since doing ITE probably decreased future yield. However, I remember thinking the ITE bank seemed much more comprehensive, had better questions and explanations, and obviously had more basic questions, which was my weaker area.
