Hey guys i was wondering if it was recommended to open a new bank account for students, which handles all your loan money that gets refunded after tuition is taken out. Preferably if this new bank account is close by to your school.

Thanks.

Fortunately I have USAA, so I transferred all of my accounts to them. It would be good to have a bank (oops I mean credit union...banks are evil) in your new hometown at school.

The last thing you'd need is hastles with out of town banks and your money while in school.

I did, but really only because it was a free/no money down application on the day of orientation and it has the added advantage of the account being tied into our student IDs so you can use it like an ATM at school cafeterias and a fair number of local businesses. Oh, and we got a free T-shirt that should be good for laundry day.
