Hi everyone,

I'm taking this MCAT upcoming in August 2006 and I was talking to someone today and they were telling me they actually had problems physically opening the exam booklet.

Could you tell me how the exam booklet is bound, and what you have to do to open it? He said there was some sticker sticking it together and he couldn't get it open?

Does anyone know what I am talking about or is my buddy a ******* lol?

Hahaha it's only a small white circular sticker holding the booklets closed, but I can totally relate to your friend. I seem to have major issues getting those stickers apart and I always have. I usually end up ripping part of the outer pages of the booklets...but no worries, I don't think it's a problem for most people.

Yeah, I didn't want to post this because I felt dumb, but it was hard. Honestly, if you are having a hard time finishing sections, I would recommend allowing yourself one minute less than the real time during practice tests to compensate for this and for any other distractions you may encounter.

 No worries it is a fair question. From what I noticed, most people who do have problems are the ones who are rushing it. So when you take your exam, just slide your pencil in between and open it. This is something I wouldn't think to hard about 😉

Kaplan actually sells a special MCAT Booklet Opener, which is specially formatted for the kind of sticker and adhesive used on the MCAT booklets. It only costs $19.99. You have your choice of colors, although most Kaplan folks choose green for some reason. Only people enrolled in the course are eligible to purchase one, however. Kaplan insists that the opener is a real time saver. Just another benefit to taking the Kaplan course! 😀

Yeah, there's a little circular sticker on the side that holds it together. Just use your pencil to open it, and you'll be fine.

I did struggle with the booklets for the two writing samples, cause they're just two sheets, not a big sturdy booklet, and I did make quite a mess of them 🙂.
