- Be able to work up new and established patients
o Enter patient information from intake form
o Refraction – Manifest and Cycloplegic refraction
o VA, CVF, Tonometry (Tonopen/Goldmann), Pupil exam.
- Ancillary Testing: HVF, OCT, Lenstar, Pentacam, Fundus Photography and other
- Welcome patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Assist with in-office surgical procedures
- Counsel surgical patients on procedure, drops, etc.
- Scribe for the doctor
- Assist in the optical and fit glasses (straight forward).
- Float position – when needed due to shortage.
o Obtain, record, and update personal and financial information.
o Call insurance companies as needed for eligibility checks, pre-authorization. Explain consent forms to patients. Scan documents into PM software.
o Obtain previous records and send documentation to other providers.
o Order supplies for clinic or acquire locally.
- Future role - Assist/organize Refractive Seminar 1x/month from 5-8 PM
- Market on physician’s behalf at offices when physician is in the OR or out of the office.
- Work closely with other office members cooperatively to learn and improve practice.
Starting pay is $15/hr.
