I have decided I want to be an ophthalmologist as a 3rd year student. However, I have mild red-green color vision deficiency. Will this keep me out of residency or hinder me in any way? I have no difficulty in normal life...

Some programs will test your vision, but most won't. Mild red-green deficiency will not hinder your performance as an ophthalmologist.
