Does anyone know if there's some sort of underground ophthalmology match data? Like urology, ophtho is not on the NRMP grid. I know on the urology forums students pooled their data to help future applicants.

https://docs.google.com/a/brown.edu...bjZFamhDTmc&usp=drive_web&richtext=true#gid=5

If such a resource doesn't already exist for ophtho, is anyone interested in refashioning this google doc for students to start entering data? As you'll see, the left columns are match data but the right columns are anonymous, i.e. the name is a row doesn't necessarily correspond to data in that row.

We could forget the names completely, and just compile stats + match success.

I'm surprised the urology applicants are perfectly comfortable with the names being made public... or was this supposed to be a private database. Seems like one can achieve the same data-sharing/statistics without having to reveal people's identities...

Anyway, there's two different match stats available for ophtho, not sure if u know about them or not

Any person successfully matching into a competitive specialty would want their name known!!!

Anyhow, for the poster above, the names present are not associated with the statistics in the same row. Those are put in random order (currently I'm viewing it in ascending order).

The only person who would give away their scores is the first poster... right?

I matched into ophtho but I would never publicize my identity like that. I guess i value my privacy a little bit more than others, but I guess different strokes for different folks..

I agree with this completely. It's obvious we each have merits that got us matched into a competitive specialty, but it's strange to have your accomplishments published up there like that at this stage in our careers.

It would remain anonymous if you only collected un-named data points (Basically the right side of the excel sheet).

But it is all going public next year anyways? And your accomplishments aren't attached to your name. I don't know how it could be a privacy issue except for maybe the first few people. But, i agree though I should not have made that generalization.

even the first few people would not have to reveal their names, if we decide its not so important to see where people have been accepted (that will definitely be up in a couple of years) It might be better to compile the data anonymously in the Googledoc format.

I think this is a good idea to help future applicants out, but agree anonymous data would probably be better. We can have a separate tab with the person's name/home school/where they matched and graduating class if the person is comfortable sharing that.

Just do what PRS did on their forums where they embedded an excel file into a SDN thread and people had the choice of filling out what they wanted to. that way all these people waiting for this thread to produce some gold will have something tangible to stare at....more.
