When it comes to the health care field, asians are not with a minority status..maybe when it comes to law or business i dunno..but healthcare, for sure not. Also you have to look at the demographics for each state. in the midwest, white people makes up like 90 percent of the population or something like that. Of course you will not see non-whites to be the majority of any classes. In California/New York, the demographics are different...so the demographics of the classes will be different
"42.9% for white boys" what about white girls?
African americans are at 33%~...so are they at a disadvantage or advantage?
African-Americans make up 13%~ of this country...asians make up ~5 percent of the country while ~20% of the dental students are asian. white people people makes up ~60% of the country....or somewhere aorund that area.
You bet? cool...but did you ever think about other reasons? such as its not a required field to complete so thats why people don't fill it out. Its not hard for adcoms to figure out which racial group you belong to. They will see you at interviews. there is nothing to "game" here.
sooooo what about QR? higher or lower?
I've lost track of what your trying to say....
Are you talking about blacks vs asians vs whites? or..
white girls and white boys? or...
RC vs QR?
First, the 2009 race data shows the percentage of asians (or any other race) that gets accepted when compared to how many people applied FOR THAT RACE. For example, approx 3000 asians applied, and only 1000-ish got admitted (hence the 35.5%)..... how many asians are in the US population is irrelevant. You say 13% of the nation is blacks, 5% is Asians, and 60% are whites, did you ever consider that ONLY a small portion of each of those is applying to dental school? I mean come on, 300 million population and only 12,000 applicants
second I find it odd that, even tho the race section isn't required, only 500 people decided to "skip" over it, while the other 11,500 populated it. Don't you find it the least bit strange why small portion of the applicants didn't populate it?
And finally, whats your point about the QR? The QR is the LEAST important section of the DAT. I've heard of people getting admitted with 13-15s in QR. Can you say the same with RC???
