Options in publishing?

Is there anyway to publish being an undergrad if I am not working in research? I am in a philosopy class and other science classes where I would love to do a paper on a topic and submit it, but where can I submit these papers for possible publication. Are there any options for me? I would like something else to "spice" up my app and have interesting things to talk about in my interviews as well. Any info would be great!
