Taking the oral boards this next week.

Is it okay to ask for a "CBC, CMP", or do they want you to say "complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, etc"?
I've heard some conflicting things, even at a prep course.

Also, can you start writing on your note paper as soon as you sit down, or do you have to wait until they say "begin" or you say "I'm ready." Need to know when I can start with my reminder list.

Thanks!

I'm not an orals examiner but I think that if you call it a "CBC" and they want you to say "complete blood count" they'll chime in with something like "Do you mean a complete blood count?" They're not looking to fail you on something like that.

You do have to be careful about saying "comprehensive metabolic panel" because it means different things at different places. I do recall having to explain that I wanted lytes and LFTs

I think you do have to wait until they tell you to start before you can start writing.
