I am doing research this year and will be a 3rd year in July. My Step 1 score is not so hot and I want to take Step 2 early in my 4th year so that I can show off a good score. Hopefully. Because of this, does anyone know if there are specific rotations to take right before taking Step 2? Should I take surgury or medicine as my last 3rd year rotations? Or does it not really matter?

Thanks,
Mutterkuchen

Considering the fact that almost every shelf exam has a good chunk of IM on it (surgery has ~40%) I'd say doing medicine last would be your best bet. However, keep in mind medicine is what third year is built upon and doing it earlier helps you clinically... but if you're just looking to help your step 2 CK score I'd do it right beforehand.
