Does anyone have any solid info on whether or not Oregon accepts many out of state residents (specifically CA)? I have heard that oregon is the same as colorado, where if you're from CA, you have no chance. But Oregon keeps sending me updates, like: "you're doing great champ, hang in there. Keep your eyes peeled for an interview invite!"

Are they just getting my hopes up?

Depends, if your numbers are much higher than their averages you are in good shape for Oregon but in that case you are also in good shape for all California schools. 🙂

TimR-
hope this helps, it is from 2003/04 cycle but has more detailed info than what is on the web site-

stats for 2004 applicants:
http://www.ohsu.edu/sod/admissions/pdfs/2004stat.pdf
(3 Ca residents accepted)

and for 2003
(0 CA residents accepted)

Class of 2008:
Out of State:
BCP GPA = 3.75
Sci GPA = 3.80
Avg GPA = 3.85
8 male, 2 female

That's very competitive but very fair considering Oregon is a state school.

Does anyone know anything about Oregon's multileveled review process? How many review processes (how many levels) one has to pass to get an invitation letter? (just curious)

Mark Mitchell said (back in april) that they look at every application that comes in and make 'piles' for incomplete applications, want to interview, maybe interview and so on. then they just keep going through the piles as new info comes in.

Once they get a large pool they start sending letters for interviews. He said that they won't look at anyone who has a dat score lower than 15 in any area, but they sometimes (rarely)ask for you to retake the test and will flex a little on the Nov 1 deadline (they will not flex on the deadline for much else). That's all I really know, I don't know anything about a 'multileveled' process unless that is fancy-schmancy language for their pile system.😉

They are also very serious on the 50 hours of shadowing and want to see that you have truly investigated the field.

do they expect you to have 50 hours before you apply or to complete 50 hours by the time school starts? thanks for the info!
