I am filling out the Oregon secondary right now. I am looking over the supplemental information section which is optional. I don't get it though. This is what it says word for word:
"The committee adheres to a policy of equal opportunity and non-discrimination on the basis of sex, age, race, ethnic origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation. To enable us to achieve our goal for diversity we request that you answer the following questions. This information is being requested on a voluntary basis. Responding to the questions will allow these factors to be considered in the admissions process."
On one hand they say that it is equal opportunity and non-discrimination. But then they go onto say that this information will be considered if supplied. I have not had any significant financial, family, or educational hardships and my parents are both well educated. Should I even bother filling this section out? I feel like it automatically places me at some sort of disadvantage.
