Hi

What is your opinion on taking Organic Chem I + Physics I in the fall semester and Organic Chem II + Physics II in the spring? Is it doable?

Extremely similar question was just asked recently. Look around.

Hell, it might even be on the first page still.

short answer yes. Long answer a search is usually a good thing to use :)

I did it and it honestly wasn't that bad of a semester. You'll be fine

I did it plus all the labs and Bio classes. It's possible, but if you can't get through that then you probably can't get through med school.

I feel like this is the 23454th time I've responded to a thread like this.

I took physics 2 and organic chem 2 during 6 weeks last summer. I lived.

My schedule was staggered in that I was taking Ochem II with Physics I, so it really wasn't that bad. However, Ochem II + Physics II at my school would have been rough in terms of workload. However, most of my sophomore peers at the time did what you want to do and most of them turned out fine (I think...I hope).

(Yay for semi-copying and pasting from another thread!)

It better be doable, my first semester schedule for next year includes ochem 1, physics 1, and medical microbio all with labs. Not including the two math classes and one elective. Word to the wise: never try to finish all of your pre-reqs in two years.

Neh, i think trying to finish the pre-reqs before your 3rd year is nice. Your given more time for mcat prep your 3rd year.. then again.. my 3rd year schedule will be a bitch regardless... i can just say one thing.. upper level courses will kill any ability for me to have fun in college lol.

serenade,
i wrote advice for you in the other ochem + physics thread

yes if you finish pre-req's by end of sophomore year, you will have time for mcat prep your junior year. But there is no need to finish them by beginning of junior year. You should have them done by end of junior year.

I would take physics my sophomore year, and do orgo my junior year if I were you. Dont take anything over the summer.... but if you decide to do both your sophomore year, and prepare for MCAT your junior year that works too.... buy berkeley review prep books for MCAT in all subjects... bio, chem, orgo, physics, and english and master them throughout your junior year while taking non-time consumptive classes... do well on the MCAT... and take those upper-level science classes (which i didnt have to take cause i am a non-science major) in senior year....
