I have a friend who said that the book Organic Chemistry as a Second Language helped him with Organic for the MCAT. To be quite frank, I suck at Organic Chem. I made a C in it, and that was only because I turned in a crap load of B.S. extra credit assignments at the end of the semester. I just don't get the subject, but the reviews for this book on Amazon are pretty good. It's basically like an Organic Chemistry for Dummies book. My friend is reliable, but I wanted to know if anyone else has used this book??? If not, what is the best MCAT Organic book to use for someone who is terrible at it?

I used both books throughout my orgo courses and i found them to be quite helpful in helping me understand what i was learning in lecture. That being said, these books aren't designed to work as a standalone guide to orgo but more of a supplement, therefore i don't advise using them solo.

I got both of the books. Totally worth it.

It was nice also because my Ochem 1 and 2 class used the textbook written by the same author, Klein. So the Ochem as 2nd language complemented his text book very well...

Now that I think about it, his 2nd Language books had easier and more efficient ways of showing how to understand Ochem than his text book did! haha

Anyways, yes worth the money.

These books got me through Ochem and I definitely pulled them back out when it was time to refresh for MCAT Orgo content

Love those books! I am one of those weird people that really likes O Chem (I went through times of HATING the crap out of it while taking it, esp in the middle of the year, but by the end it all started coming together and I developed a weird love for it) so somewhat different perspective, but I really think it helps explain the basics and give simpler ways of thinking of things. There's tons of practice problems and really you will probably end up understanding stuff better b/c of it. I wish I had found these books before taking my ACS.
