Hi all,

I'm enrolled this Fall to re-take Gen Physics, Gen Chem and Organic Chem, but now I'm thinking twice about re-taking Cell Molecular Bio or Genetics vs. to Organic Chem. After reading some of the post here regarding the August MCAT, it seems like there was very little Orgo in yesterday's MCAT and that there was more genetics/cell mol bio. What do you guys think? Which class should I re-take?

Retake whichever class you dont feel you can learn all the information for by just reading a review book. I had molecular biology and I felt it was really helpful. For me, I could learn the organic from a review book..especially because of the rare organic passages on the actual test. But if you feel more comfortable with genetics at a basic level...then take an orgo class 🙂 What may appear on your test could be totally different. My april 05 test was loaded with hard orgo. xoxo. goodluck.

Hey--I agree with the last poster--retake what you feel you cannot learn/relearn from a review book. For me, it is very difficult to learn O-chem--or any kind of chem from a review book. You know, if you are weak in O-chem, you might be the unlucky one to get the form with all the hard O-chem. That was me yesterday.

Hey, I don't think you should consider yesterday's MCAT when deciding which courses to take. I mean the lean away from Orgo and towards molecular/genetics on this one test does not necessarily mean that this is going to be the new trend. I actually heard certain forms had a lot of orgo...mine had 2 passages.

I also remember having a lot of orgo questions when I took last April's MCAT. I believe my test was Form AG.
