Curious if there is a list out there of common/need-to-know functional groups for the MCAT. I seem to be mixing up esters and ethers so wanted to find a list to memorize for good.

Bonus: if you can give me an important fact about each functional group for fun!

Ketone. RC=OR'. Example: acetone. Nail polish. Highly flammable. People have been witnessed setting themselves on fire with the help of acetone.
 
carboxylic acids: RCOOH. Example: acetic acid. Found in vinegar, but other carboxylic acids are also found in body odor and stale foods like rotten butter.
sulfides/sulfhydryl/thiols: RSH. Examples: hydrogen sulfide, dimethyl sulfide. Found in farts and burning rubber. Heck any sulfur containing organic compound stinks
