Hi all,

As much as I know, Pharmacy schools are weight Organic Chemistry very heavily. Did anyone here get in with C for both? I really don't want to re take them again. (Thanks God it's over though).

Thanks

I loved organic chemistry. I heard that Organic Chemistry is the grade that admissions concentrates on the most, but if you have a high science GPA it shouldn't be that big of a problem. Study for the PCAT chemistry section really hard (check out my blog for books). I got an E the first time I took Organic Chemistry 1, but retook it and got an A in lecture and lab and then went to Organic Chemistry 2 and got an A in lecture and lab.

One of my friends has a sister who got a pair of C's in Organic Chemistry. It took her a few tries, but she did get into UB's pharmacy school eventually. I would recommend that if you don't get into pharmacy school your first try, and you don't want to retake Organic, get a Bachelor's in something and do really well in the rest of your science classes.

I got a B in Org chem I and a C in Org chem II and I got accepted. It has been 8 years since Org chem I and since then I have set myself apart in other ways. My overall GPA is above 3.4, high PCAT score, good ECs, good letters of recommendation and an advanced degree.
Admissions committees look at the entire application; getting two Cs is not the end of the road.
Best of luck to you.

I got B's in ochem 1 and 2 at a community college. I don't get why people freak out so much about one grade in one class. Whats your overall gpa?

Overall GPA 3.3
Science GPA 3.1

School I want to apply that does not require PCAT. Do I have any chance?
I like Irishhammer's idea so if i do not get in 1st year then I am going to retake next summer.

Thanks all.
