Organic is Killing me...

I am keep forgetting stuffs from organic. I would be really good wtih determining SN2/SN1 and E1/E2. But when I come back after a week (reviewing Gchem and Bio), just one week!!! it's just gone like it was never there in my brain. Especially where you have to determine whether it's strong Nuc/base and weak Nuc/Base. It's killing me right now.

This makes me want to stop studying... makes me depress. Any one out there having similar depression?😡😡😡

I had that when I studied for the DAT. If you have not already checked it out...check out my DAt study plan suggestions. The gen chem and ochem is pretty much the same thing but using ochem books and not gen chem books. The plan i put together uses ACS Ochem study guide, Dat destroyer, and textbook. But key is to memorize the reactions and then do problems...Don't leave it for a week. Do some problems each day (30 minutes for refresh), especially if you are struggling with the topic.

Thanks for the tip. Does ACS Ochem really helps? my plan is to finish quizes from the Chad and review the Kaplan review book one more time. Then go into Destroyer.

I like it because it oranized my studying by topic and made it easy working on areas I was weak on. There are 30 questions per topic and about 5 example problems. So I would focus on just one section at a time and that really helped engrain the chemistry for me. If you are just about done studying then I would not get it (just focus on what you have) but if you have a month or so to go I would go ahead and get it.

Dude im in the same boat as you!!!! It is very frustrating, So in order to help me retain my knowledge EVERY day I either practice organic or gen chem so I don't forget it. Maybe try that and hopefully it helps

It's definitely ideal to go through things like the ACS guide and Chad's before tackling Destroyer, so I think you're on the right track. Though I think Destroyer ochem required less pre-prep with other sources than the gen chem did (could not have done the gen chem in it without fully having gone through Chad first).

Chad is your answer.. I downloaded his downloadable videos like i think a year and some months ago.. and they are awesome. For Gen Chem and Orgo, watch his videos and take detail notes and I promise you wont forget it. If you do, you can refer back to your notes that you made. If I had a way of sending the videos to any or everyone I would lol..
