Organic Lab 2

I was curious if I NEED to take organic 2 lab to apply to DO school.. I have taken everything else required I am quite sure. However, never took organic 2 lab because didn't see the point if it wasn't required(which at the time, the general impression of my student body was that it wasn't). I know, I know, I should have done my own research. anyhow, I have taken BIOchem lab. so wondering if that would take its place if it is actually required.

that is very school dependent. i haven't taken orgo 2 at all and I called around to schools to see if they would take my biochem with lab. some said yes, some said no. if i get accepted to ones that said yes, awesome i am set. if i get accepted (and matriculate) to a school that said no, i will be scrambling to get into orgo 2. check with the schools.

thanks! I'm curious before I call, does anyone know for PCOM specifically? I took org 1+ lab... and Orgo 2.. and I took biochem + lab.. but no orgo 2 lab. Thanks!

Actually... I just checked my unofficial transcript in which it says:
Organic 1: 4 credits
Oragnic 1 Lab: 2 credits.

Organic 2: 3 credits..

So doesn't that technically mean i have 9 semester hours of organic chemistry(which would put me 1 over the required 8?)

I recommend you taking it anyway. It never hurts to err on the side of safety.

I'd think you're fine with that. My school only offers 1 O-chem lab and it's worth 1 or 2 credits variable. All the premeds take 2 credits. It doesn't hold them back from getting into schools.

PCOM MS2 here: I was in this exact situation...not required as an undergrad for my bio major so I didnt take it. However I received conflicting information as to whether we needed it....so the summer before I matriculated I bit the bullet and signed up for JUST orgo 2 lab. It was next to no commitment and I got an A...just do it. Why cause any problems for yourself at PCOM or any other school.
