I took Organic Chemistry I my first semester of freshman year (not the best decision) and got a B. I know this is not ideal. However, I am on track to get at least an A- in Orgo II. Will top med schools likely be a little more forgiving of that grade given it was my first semester of college (especially if I show an overall upward trend the next 3 years)?

All the schools I applied to did not care. As long as your overall GPA is solid, you'll be fine.

B in orgo 1, C+ in orgo 2. Never mentioned at the 10 interviews I went on over two cycles. I was only ever told by interviewers that they liked that I had good grades and a difficult and relevant major.

Non-sci major here. I got a B, then worked even harder 2nd sem only to get a C, then A's in the rest of my sciences after including biochem, micro, a&p, etc. Some of us just aren't meant for orgo lol. Not saying you aren't, you can definitely prepare more and study more and do well, just saying it's not a big deal and not reflective of your abilities. It can be a brutal class, esp having it 1st sem
