What does the n in n-propyl chloride stand for?

I spend the longest time trying to put an amine on the molecule : P, what information does the n give?

I think it means the propyl group is attached to the nitrogen in the molecule.

It stands for normal, which means the normal (linear) structure for a propyl group with a chlorine attached on the end of it. Watch out of an alkyl shift though (rearrangement) when forming a carbocation with a propyl (or any linear) group.
