This might be a dumb question but are all reactions in orgo: Sn1,Sn2, E1, E2, or addition reactions? If you understand the basis these reactions, their solvents, nucleophiles, electrophile is that all you need in order to solve the reaction questions on the orgo section?

No. Those are just one class of reactions that you should know for the orgo section.

Check out DAT destroyer road maps....those are all you need. It's a lot but it's awesome practice. You should understand mechanisms too because they often give you 1 molecule with several steps and you have to figure out what you end up with.

Whip out the orgo 2 book and note the basic substitution/elimination rules. Memorizing the Destroyer road maps was EXTREMELY helpful too!

Just know the road map and you are set as far as reaction mechanisms. Don't forget to spend time on NMR, chair/boat conformation, chirality, etc. I got a few of NMR on my DAT.

There's oxidation and reduction (not much to do with E or Sn reactions), condensations (combines parts of E and Sn reactions), and addition reactions (same as condensation). But most reactions have parts of a nucleophile attaching to an electrophile in different combinations.

No. There are a few more. Organic chemistry as a second language book as well as Destroyer and Odyssey have a good summaries and practice problems. Hope this helps. Good luck.
