Hi all, I am a D3 and wanted to see if anyone could give me some idea of what my odds are for getting into ortho residency as I will be applying in the spring. I plan on taking the GRE after I complete the INDBE.

GPA: 3.89 (I have not requested my class rank bc knowing it will not make a difference in my study habits and I do not want to stress out over it) I'd guess I am around the top 10 though.

Extracurriculars:
  • Class Officer
  • Exec Positions in multiple clubs: Ortho Club, Peds Club, Public Health Club
  • Currently involved in a research project involving dental materials that will be involved with the ortho department
  • Student ambassador for my school
  • Involved in other clubs as well as a member
  • I worked at an orthodontist's office for 3 summers and still shadow/work there when I go home.

Would love to know what anyone may think of my odds/what I could do to improve them!

3.89 and various extracurriculars including leadership positions, research, etc. and proven interest in the field with shadowing and work experience...
I'd say your chances are pretty great, at least definitely good enough to secure you several interviews.
Do the best you can on the GRE (although I'm not sure how much of a factor is has, probably very program dependent), write a solid personal statement, and lock down some good letters of recommendation and you'll be looking really good.
