Does anyone know how much an orthodontist assistant make? Are they called orthodontist assistants?

it depends on the doctor you work for. i work for a butthead in beverly hills, and he pays me $11/hr, with X-ray license. in my opinion, he drastically underpays his assistants. my dad is a GP, and he thinks i should be getting more than i am for what i do at the office, especially taking into consideration the cost of living in LA. so i think it really does depend on the doctor. the thing is, you don't need to have your RDA to work for an orthodontist, so they can get away with underpaying you even though you have a BA or BS, but just didn't get a more specific dental background through going to dental assisting school. it's fun work though, in my opinion, plus good experience taking impressions, pouring stone, etc.
