Hey guys, I thought I'd come to you to see if you know the answer here.

I am a DO 4th year:
I am confused about the whole AOA approved thing. I will be trying to get into an MD residency. However, should I also look for those programs which are dual AOA and ACGME approved? If so, do I apply to them through the ERAS MD match--meaning that if I'm accepted there for residency then I will also be approved by the AOA to practice as a DO when I am through?
#2, Do I also apply for DO internships and then don't submit a rank list so that should I not match for an MD residency I can then scramble for a DO intership? Any advice would be appreciated.

You only need an AOA-approved internship in order to practice in one of the infamous five states (MI, PA, WV, OK, FL I believe). Otherwise doesn't matter. And as far as residency, doesn't matter at all.
