Hello future colleagues,
Instead of paying attention in my cell bio class (retake), I created this spread sheet with some of the requirements and costs.
This is based on the Osteopathic College Information Book from
http://www.aacom.org/about/colleges/Pages/default.aspx
Use this as your guide and check it yourself to make sure the information is correct (I am sure something is wrong).
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OF $$$ OR TIME because you followed this spread sheet.

Divided in 3 sections:
1. Based on school name (alphabetically)
2. Tuition IS
3. Tuition OOS
Marked with *

Outliers:
1. Blank spaces mean the information was not on the info book specifically.
2. DO~ means the school may allows you to meet with a DO physician to get a letter when you have interviews with them. VCOMs specifically states it in the info book but I saw from other threads that LECOMs also do it.
3. Rec^ means highly/strongly recommended.
4. N/A under Tuition (OOS) means it said "N/A" on the info book. So I'm guessing OOS is same as IS?

Why did I do this?
1. We have to help each other out.
2. There are people who ask the same thing over and over again without searching SDN or the internet.

Hopefully people find this useful.

One edit that I noticed from glancing at it:

LECOM COA is actually closer to $58k instead of $55k (must be old data). Here is the full COA:

Thanks. I see. I don't think the info book is 100% accurate. It's just a ball park (i'm sure you know) and I wasn't going to go to each school's website. I don't like you guys that much.... Do you attend LECOM COA yourself?

Room & Board for ATSU-SOMA is $40k? There is no way the total for SOMA is more expensive than AZCOM.

Well, I double checked and it is what it is.
It's not just room and board, but also books and cost of living (but i'm sure you know that).

Haha, COA = Cost of Attendance, but with so many LECOMs popping up, I guess its a fair mistake 🙂. I attend LECOM. The COA is ~$57-$58k currently (according to the website, $57,124 for MS1 for the class of 2017).

haha, well I look stupid now... Yea, I did wonder what LECOM "COA" was but thought it was some other same they use.
Well, hope you are doing well.

Since we are talking about COA, I don't want to create another thread to ask this question... I got into a low tier MD (PR) and I m waitlisted at a DO with a high probability of getting off the waitlist. The MD COA is only 55-57k as opposed to the DO which is 82k... I know 99.99% that I want to be a FM/IM? or Psych physician and I think both schools will get me there as long as I put in the necessary effort. My problem is that I am hesitant to choose the MD school even if it is the school that I prefer (not because of the letters) because I am afraid PDs might think that I am an IMG when I am applying for residency. What do you guys/gals think ?

What does PR and PD stand for?
But as far as them thinking you are a IMG, won't they know that you are from in US school? Do they not even check which school you are from??
But won't take chances with the wait list. I'd be happy that I got in somewhere, besides Caribbean schools. Take it and run with it. There are thousands of people who would love to be in your shoes in a heartbeat (including me).
But, what do I know.

PR = Puerto Rico ..
PD = Program Director

Did you look at their match lists? Pretty sure you are included with US seniors

did a quick google search:

Is your COA per year?? Which DO cost 82K per year? Are you referring to MSU?

Look at the spreadsheet on the first post. A lot of DO schools have high COA... Cant say which school because I am afraid that might give some clues regarding my indentity...

I know that DO schools have high COA. I almost ended up paying 82K/ year at a DO school as well just because I loved the school so much. Anyways, I don't think you will have trouble getting residency at a PR school.

Looking at COA makes me depressed. I'm going to be owning so much money by the time I'm done.

yea, but there are option. national health thing (i think), military, primary care tuition assistance thing, and/or financial aids.
I'm not worried about being in debt because i know if i study hard and finish well, i'll be able to pay off the debt within 5-10 years. which isn't really that bad.

Thanks... I know they are US (LCME) accredited school, but I don't know if they put the students from the PR schools into AMG category just like any other mainland school when they are applying for residency...

If you want FM, IM or Psych, what does it matter? Go to the cheaper school. You won't be viewed as an FMG, you'll be viewed as an AMG. LCME accredited MD = AMG. Just don't be surprised if you get tons of love from NYC, Miami, and residencies in other areas that have a large Spanish speaking population.
