Osteopathic vs. Allopathic

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Let me open up a bit. As far as I can tell, the difference seems to be more in philosophy or teaching style of the educational programs. There may be someone out there who fully understands both approaches, and that's who I would most like to get in touch with.

That being said, I doubt that OMM is the main difference. (Of course, OMM is a difference.) I suspect that the reasoning behind including OMM is the main difference. I have yet to find a coherent and clear description of that reason. The explanation of, "DOs care about the whole patient, and MD's don't," seems to be bologna. Of course, MDs care about patients, and primary care MDs care for the whole patient. Maybe what is meant by that statement is something about a holistic approach. Honestly, I can't tell for sure. I want to. So far, I just can't.

The differences are mostly political.

Well that was a hell of a read. Original topic guys. Entertaining to watch the trolls though!

So should we debate URM now as well? Maybe abortion? Can I get an amen for AA?!?!

When this thread dies, Ive decided that next time I'm bored I'm gonna make a fake account and post a new MD/DO thread

You can't spell "not a doctor" without DO

You can't spell "not a doctor" without DO

But you can't spell MD with DO. You can with MD (Tautology I know.)

I mean you can't spell medicine without MD. There are all kinds of 'doctors', but only so many who practice medicine.

I'm glad this thread is going strong without any NBA/NHL games tonight. keep it up! 👍 :corny:

So chem, why so defensive about Ohio? Wanted to go elsewhere? Is it because Lebron James took his talent to south beach?

not defensive at all, I italicized the "The" in my signature because for some reason it irks members of the SDN community that OSU has the preface "The" which is somewhat of an anomaly as far as school titles go. Wanted to go elsewhere? Haha, perhaps this is true, I was waitlisted at umich (my top choice going into the app cycle) and I think I might just carry some residual anger/disappointment over it.

It's gonna be a sad day when the NBA Finals are over. The only thing that will be on is MLB... 👎(

I refuse to watch SportsCenter from mid-June --> September...and being a Cubs fan usually doesn't help things either..

p.s...I. GET. BUCKETS.

👍

Kids nowadays don't practice the fundamentals

The end of the NBA season means were getting closer to football season!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!

sports are lame. There's no difference between sports fanatics and sci-fi fanatics.

basketball hasn't been the same for years now. Too soft.

Agreed. When you see dudes like Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol, and Serge Ibaka pulling up from behind the 3pt line (and their coaches not immediately benching them afterwards), you know there's a problem.

Don't get me started on flopping. Out there acting like they're playing futbol.

A bar is a bar there buddy.....no difference between these two kinds of fanatics as you can tell by this picture

I've also never heard of a sci fi bar before. I assume the drink names would be interesting and they'd have people watching sci fi shows on TV 😛

I would want to go to Canada one day to check this place out: http://geekologie.com/2013/05/exp-a-video-game-themed-bar-and-restaura.php

Also, Go Heat!

This bar has a TARDIS and screens Doctor Who episodes when they air. http://waystationbk.blogspot.com/

Also, side note, either the mods are on vacay or they're just sitting back and laughing at this ridic thread.

^Your reasoning is flawed. You're saying that its the bars that make the sports fanatics not the sports fanatics that make the bars. Sports fanatics would exist whether or not there were any bars to go to, eat crap, and watch a boring game.

I simply just said I haven't heard of one....until Ismet posted a cool link to a Doctor Who related bar 🙂

Also, the games might seem boring to YOU, but they don't to a large portion of society. I understand there are people who prefer to play sports instead of watching them.

Besides, it's a fun social outing to watch a game with friends, have a few drinks and relax. Noone needs to be a "fanatic". Hell, there are people who go simply to cruise 😛

OMG hilarious. When I view the photo in the iPhone app it has the topic title too but in the picture it looks like a caption. Did we find the answer to this thread? Hahahaha epic.

Once I get my medical degree, maybe I'll take a leaf out of A.T. Still's book and make another new version. We'll be just like MDs and DOs except we'll also teach theoretical xenobiology so we can be prepared to treat aliens just in case. The degree will be MAD, for medical alien doctor. Also for, you mad because my degree is cooler than yours, bro?

Let MD vs. DO vs. MAD begin. :meanie:

You are ALL forgetting ND!!!! Shame.
