On the same note every single graduate got 1 of their top 3 residency choices. I thought some of you making decisions would like to know this.

The OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating class of 2006 recently scored first in average score on the Level 2 Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) board examination. The exam, taken in a student's fourth year of schooling, evaluates the student’s knowledge in the clinical areas of medicine and surgery and clinical problem-solving skills.

OSU students also scored second in pass rate. A total of 94.5 percent of the 91 OSU students tested passed.

Who scored #1 on step 1?

and how about USMLE? does anyone know?

step I is more important to me as this score will more likely effect your match. Thanks for the great info though and good job OSU.

Who scored #1 on step 1?

I have no idea. I have tried to figure out, but I cannot find this info. However I do know that over the past 5 years our pass rate is roughly 97-98%.

I think our place, TCOM, had a 99.2 percent pass rate on Level I again this year - 2006. (1 failure). Our Dean reported that all students have taken Level I at this time. I'll have to check on the level II pass rate and see what I can find out.

werd...but i can pee further than youu

maybe thats because your smaller and can generate more pressure!

I always find it interesting that every student says their school has a passrate over the average passrate which is ~92%

i think LECOM's pass rate is in the 70s. A student told me that.

You have to remember that most schools will not release "pass rates" until after those who have failed it the first time take it again. Statistics can be manipulated in that sense.

USMLE pass rates for osteopathic students can be found on the USMLE website. They publish the stats of MD vs. DO and lemme tell ya, DO's don't hold a candle compared to MD's on the USMLE for obvious reasons. DO's have a much lower passing rate. But that isn't what this thread is about.

With that said, OSU-COM has strong COMLEX/USMLE prep so therefore they naturally score higher than average. Not all schools have a "preparation program". Dr. Goljan who is known nationwide for his USMLE prep review books and who is a professor at OSU-COM is a major factor in their success.

Oh and OSU-COM class size will increase to 98 students from 88 students in 2007. 😀

I learned somthing interesting the other day about "1st choices in residencies." Keep in mind that before the MD and DO matches, students are allowed to talk to the programs they are applying to and while they can't be told if they will get in for sure, they can be told if they have a "Very strong" or "very poor" chance of matching. This allows them to change thier #1 and #2 (higher choices) so that they will have a more realistic chance of matching into a program. So while they may have wanted to do an ortho residency and origionally had it at #1, if the program tells them that they don't have a snowflakes chance in hell of matching it, the student will replace ortho with a less competative and lower ranked choice. So, while thier official #1 choice may now be internal medicine, it does not reflect their "true" number 1. Just antoher way that a school can manipulate data so that everyone can run around saying "my school matches everyone into thier top choices"

This may not be a huge deal if you are going DO and are looking at a less competative residency like Family Med or Internal Med, but if you want some type of surgery don't base a decision on which school matches the most 1st choices, take an actual look at the match list. This was in Iserson's I believe, if I missed anything fill me in.

LECOM-Erie told us in the interview that pass rates are always right around 92-93%.....could a school in the 70's get students??

Perhaps their comlex pass is the 90s and their usmle is 70s? I'll look into it...😕
