Anyone get off the deferred list yet? I've been on since January...this takes soooooooo long. But they said there's a 50% chance of getting accepted. Anyone?

For this reason, as well as the constantly changing list, we are not able to let you know your number on the waiting list. If you are on our waiting list the end of June or early July, we will be able to give you an estimate of your general location on the wailing list (upper half, upper quartile, etc.).
kanman75 said:One of the admissions people told me the number, so it should be true...
paco4488 said:I am also on the waitlist. My interviewer told me that, since I was being interviewed, I had a 50% chance of acceptance. I'm not sure if maybe its around the same for those of us who have now been waitlisted.
asdad said:I just talked to the admissions lady and she said that at this time the incoming class is full. It might change next week.
BlondieMD said:Do you know if they have even gone to their deferred list yet? I sure hope not...
nigel said:No, the classs is still overfilled from initial acceptances. This isn't a good sign for us though... I can't imagine there will be a lot of turnover with the deferred list. Good luck all...
kanman75 said:Oh, I at least know that I am one of the 65 that is still deferred and under review, in case someone needed a number of how many are waiting under consideration (the lady told me that in the email too).
asdad said:wait, I don't know if I understood you correctly. Are there only 65 people on the deferred list? or is 'deferred and under review' a separate list?
JHUNBC said:What gives? Every single waitlist I'm on claims to have a full class. OSU usually takes up to 33% of their class from the waitlist.
I'm starting to wonder if this was the wrong cycle to apply. 😕
Messerschmitts said:No...last cycle none of my waitlists moved either. I think it's just like this every year. The problem is that schools overaccept, so that they accept enough students to compensate for people withdrawing, and thus minimising their use of the waitlist. For example, OSU has a minimum class size of 210 (or something). Maybe they accepted 300 students. Thus, only when more than 90 students withdraw, thereby bringing the total number of intended matriculants below 210, do they start taking from their waitlist.
This is pretty depressing, but that's what I've heard.

kanman75 said:I interpreted it as deferred and under review like you said...here's the email I got.
'This year has been a little different than the past years. As of today, we have not dropped below our class size. In the past few years we have started to call our defer list between May 5th and 8th. I do not anticipate us calling anyone from the defer list until sometime next week.
In the past you would have had a fifty/fifty chance of being called. I dont know what is going to happen this year. I will let you know that your file is one of the 65 that the Admissions Committee did ask for so they can review them.'
3.89 and a 38, but don't let that discourage you - clinical experience and EC's were way less than average. Fortunately, the interview went super, and maybe it was my emails and update letters that sealed the deal. I'm just ecstatic to have a class of 2010, especially at a school that was very high on my list!asdad said:congrats 👍
If you don't mind, what was your GPA & MCAT?

Dr. Giggles said:Yeah, I know 🙁 . I apologize if my last post was a bit cloying. It's a big class, and hopefully you'll be the beneficiary of a withdrawal pretty soon.
Any more calls this AM?

Good luck all, this is a nerve wracking process...
NotAnMD said:Damn...these stat postings make me wonder how my app could get miraculously pulled off the alternate list. I was kinda hoping that waitlisters would have below OSU averages.
